Welcome to Puerto Rico!

We had a great flight. We arrived to the Ramey Base airport. The weather was great and the best part was that we didn't have to drive 3 hours to our in-laws. The airport was only 40 minutes away. We arrived in Mayaguez and stayed with Jose's parents. This is their home:

We rented a car at the airport and visited family around the island.Puerto Rico is only 100 miles x 35 miles. We went to several beaches and ate great food.
It rained almost every day and their was no A/C. We had several fans and left the windows opened everyday. The breeze was enough and roosters would wake us up every morning.

We visited several cities and also a water park where the slides come out of the mountains. We ate local fruits and probably gained a lot of weight for pigging out.

The landscape was beautiful. Everything is so green and the flowers are always in bloom.

The bishop of the ward here, Bishop Colon, is a professor of chemical engineering at the university that Jose and I attended. On his day off he took the youth of the ward on a tour of the university. We visited all the different departments and many labs. In one of the labs they were working with a possible cure for cancer. They used magnets and made a solution out of it. They would inject the solution in rats with cancer tumors. After, they would apply a magnetic field to the tumors making the magnet solution heat up and destroy the cancer cells. They told us that it would possible start to be tested in humans by the next 2 years. Here is the gang (Bishop is wearing the baseball cap.):

We will be going home soon. Our plane leaves Sunday, July 7th @ 3:25 am and arrives @ 6:10 am in Orlando if everything goes as planned. We are planning to make it to church on Sunday. See you then.
